Ruth H. Schwartz, age 92, of 2036 Sycamore, died on Saturday, August 20, 2016 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on October 3, 1923 in Liberty, Illinois, the daughter of Floyd & Anna (Bellmeyer) Deming. Ruth attended the Liberty area schools. She married Howard C. Schwartz in 1945. He preceded her in death.

Ruth had worked at Davis Cleavers, Quincy Speaker, the Quincy Shoe Factory and for Motorola. Most recently she had been a CNA at Good Samaritan Home. She also was a foster parent.

Ruth is survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Shirley (Leonard) Gooding of Camp Point, Leroy (Carolena) Schwartz of Baylis, IL; and Mary L. (Mike) Allen of Quincy.
SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN: Terry (Mark) Sorrill; Alice (Matt) Myers; Sherry (Terry) Robertson, Ron (Amy) Gooding, LeAnn Thomas, Laura (Robert) Whitlock, and Jeffrey (Gina) Allen.

Along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Ruth was also preceded in death by 2 grandchildren: Lisa Allen and Leonard Lee Gooding, Jr., Sisters: Marie Stirk and Irene Warning and a brother: Donald Lee Deming in childhood.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
