Ruth Ellen Marquardt, age 92, of Quincy, peacefully went to be with the Lord and loved ones, on Wednesday January 30, 2019 at Good Samaritan Home. Ruth was born January 24, 1927 in Grand Rapids Michigan, the daughter of William J. & Eva (Thrasher) Gregory, Jr. Ruth was the third born of four siblings Gertrude (Trudy) Boden, Judy Bergman and Charles Gregory.

She graduated from Quincy Senior High School in 1945. She married Lawrence Paul Marquardt on December 28, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1984. Ruth retired from The Illinois Veterans Home in 1992.

Ruth enjoyed traveling with family, creating needle point items only to share with others, collecting and watching movies, cooking and baking for others, card games and puzzles. Ruth was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and Betty Boop. What Ruth loved more than anything is the simplest aspect of life, caring for and being with her family.

Survivors include two children Wesley Paul Marquardt, and his wife Brenda, of Quincy, Bradley Paul Marquardt of Glendale, Arizona. A Grandson Tyler Marquardt of St Charles, MO and a granddaughter Hannah Marquardt of Quincy. One Great-Granddaughter Madelyn Marquardt. Her sister Judy Bergman of Quincy. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents, a toddler son Tyler Paul Marquardt, her sister Trudy Boden and her brother Charles Gregory.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 4, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
