Russell W. Nieders, Sr.

Russell W. Nieders, Sr., age 84, of Liberty, died on Thursday, May 26, 2016 in his home. He was born on December 22, 1931 in Quincy, IL the son of John J. & Edna (Dingerson) Nieders. He was a graduate of Payson Seymour High School. He married Lucille “Fritzie” Maas on June 27, 1953 in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Quincy. She survives. Mr. Nieders was a glazier for Oenning Glass Company from 1955 until 1970. He also farmed in the Liberty area for most of his life. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.

Russell enjoyed woodworking, traveling and spending time with family. He was a member of the Adams County Farm Bureau. He greatly enjoyed helping his son farm.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Russell Nieders, Jr. and his wife Karen of Liberty; Alan Nieders and his wife Tami of San Jose, CA and Linda Corcoran and her husband Michael of Bourbonnais, IL.
SON IN LAW: Michael Neill of Tremont, IL
SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN: Kimberly Lightfoot and her husband Josh; Scott Baker and his wife Melissa; Bruce Nieders and his wife Amanda; Kara Nieders, Kristen Nieders, Sean Corcoran and Hailey Corcoran.
TWO STEP-GRANDCHILDREN: Greg Neill and his wife Amanda and David Neill and his wife Jamie.
6 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: 4 STEP-GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN
TWO BROTHERS: Orville Nieders and his wife Elsie and John Nieders and his wife Sue.
And numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Shirley Neill and a granddaughter Heather Nieders.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Liberty FFA or to the Liberty Education Foundation.

The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
