Russell B. Terstriep

Russell B. Terstriep, age 80, of Hull, IL, died on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in Blessing Hospital. He was born October 29, 1934 in Quincy, a son of Edward J. “Boots” and Dorothy J. (Venvertloh)Terstriep. He married Rita M. Rossmiller on May 21, 1955 in St. Joseph Catholic Church and she survives.

Russell was a lifelong farmer, he was semi-retired.
He was a graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School. Russell was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where he was also a member of the Holy Name Society.

He had served as Payson Township Supervisor for 47 years and he was a member of the Adams County Farm Bureau. He played softball into his sixties, and he enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting activities.

In addition to his wife Rita, survivors include his four children, Sandra (Randy) Brinkman of Quincy, IL, Steven (Julie) Terstriep of Industry, IL; Edward (Lori) Terstriep of Payson, IL; and Janice (Kevin) Schuckman also of Quincy, IL.

Grandchildren: Kimberly (Ryan) Sparks of Payson IL; Craig (Nikki) Brinkman of Maywood, MO; Amy Brinkman of Carbondale, IL; Erik Terstriep of Industry, IL; Leigh (Scott) Bickerman of Rushville, IL; Adam Terstriep, Christopher Terstriep, Ryan Terstriep and Emily Terstriep all of Payson, IL; Kory (Jennifer) Schuckman of Bettendorf, IA; Kody (Kelsey) Schuckman of South Beloit, IL; Kayla Schuckman and Konner Schuckman both of Quincy, IL. Great-grandchildren, Logan, Devin and Nolan Sparks, all of Payson, IL; Emma Brinkman of Maywood, MO; Demi Schuckman of South Beloit, IL and Hailey Schuckman of Bettendorf, IA.

Two brothers, Tom (Bernadine) Terstriep of Liberty, IL and Roger (Rosie) Terstriep of Quincy, IL; two sisters, Phyllis Ehrhardt and Cindy (Kenny) Smith all of Quincy, IL; a brother-in-law, Dennis Sparrow of Indianapolis, IN; a sister-in-law, Beth Wangeline of Moline, IL and many nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Paul Terstriep, and sisters, Ruth Spoonmore, Sharon Sparrow, and two brothers-in-law, William Ehrhardt and Jack Spoonmore.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 9:15 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, May 4, 2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Memorials are suggested to Blessing Hospital Foundation for Hospice, St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Quincy Notre Dame Football Program or to the Payson-Seymour Athletic Club.

    My deepest and sincerest condolances to Russ’s family. I have been fortunate to have lived so long in a community with folks like Russ and Rita. Im sure gonna miss this guy, and my heart goes out to his family.
