Rosemary Holder

Rosemary Holder, age 71, of 641 Chestnut Street, Quincy, died on Thursday, January 29, 2009 in Blessing Hospital. Rosemary was born on April 13, 1937 in Quincy, IL the daughter of John Lee, and Ella Lee(Stewart) Gay, Sr. She married Richard Holder on March 16, 1956 in LaGrange, MO. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2006.

Rosemary attended First Baptist Church in Quincy, Illinois. She was employed by the Illinois Veterans Home for 30 years.

Rosemary enjoyed her children and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling and crafts.

SURVIVORS INCLUDE:
HER CHILDREN: Cheryl Fletcher of Quincy, Randy Holder of Quincy, Antoinette Holder of Quincy, Wayne Holder of Quincy, Christina Holder of Memphis, TN, and Rev. Terrance L. Holder and his wife Cherrie of Wichita, KS;
EIGHT BROTHERS: John L. Gay of Quincy, Ron Gay, Sr., of Davenport, IA, Jimmy Gay, Sr., of Quincy, Ricky Gay of Rock Island, IL, Billy Gay of Quincy, Butch Gay of Moline, Greg Gay of Quincy, and Bobby Gay of Quincy.
Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Charles Gay and a sister, Jonna Mae Williams.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 12:00 Noon in First Baptist Church by Rev. T. Lamont Holder and Rev. Orville B. Jones, Jr. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the church. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Jackson Pool. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    Rosemary will be missed by many people. She was a beautiful person. She bowled with me a few years ago and I really enjoyed her. My prayers will be with the family.
