Rosemary Hinkamper
Rosemary Hinkamper, age 84, of 1853 Maple in Quincy died on November 12, 2022 in her home. She was born on October 2, 1938, in a farmhouse northeast of Quincy. She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Frances (Schreacke) Hildebrand.
As a child, she was raised on the Hildebrand family dairy farm and was an active member in 4H clubs. In 1952 she graduated from St. Michael’s grade school and then graduated from Quincy High School in 1956. After attending Gem City Business College, she was employed by Miller, Castle, and Freiburg Insurance Company.
On September 12, 1959, she married the late Raymond Hinkamper at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Quincy. She then attended John Wood Community College studying Accounting. In 1975 she and her late husband, Raymond, opened Raymond R Hinkamper Service Company. She was the secretary / treasurer until her retirement in 2022.
Rosemary was active in the PTA at Dewey School, serving as the President for many years. She also donated her time in the Quincy City Council PTA and was an honorary life member of the Illinois PTA. She volunteered in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts at St. Francis with Pack 22 and Troop 22 for many years.
In she spare time from raising their 6 children, she enjoyed baking, especially making wedding cakes and birthday cakes for family and friends. In 1972, She had a Cinderella Castle cake published in the national cake decorating book by Maid of Scandinavia Company, which was the most popular cake magazine at the time. She was also an avid salt and pepper shaker collector.
In January of 2015, she was diagnosed with myeloma. She was keeping the myeloma under control until September of 2022. We would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Memon, his staff, and the staff at the Infusion center at Blessing Hospital for all their compassionate care she received during her battle. The family also would like to thank Blessing Hospice for their great care during her final journey. Rosemary herself wanted to express her special thanks to her family who supported and helped her through it all.
Rosemary was the proud mother of 6 children: Randall Hinkamper and his wife, Shelly, of Quincy, Ricky Hinkamper and his wife Monica of Quincy, the late Robert Hinkamper, Richard Hinkamper of Quincy, Rhonda Jensen and her husband Fred of Johnston, IA and Roy Hinkamper and his wife Allison of High Ridge, MO. Her grandchildren: Matthew, Ashley, Ian, Isaac, Olivia, Megan, Luke, Charlene, Chris, Brittany, Kayla, Frederick, Samantha, Mia, Clare. Great grandchildren: Ender, Fallyn, Sloane, Brooklynn, Athyn, Keira. One brother Leo Hildebrand along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond Hinkamper and her son, Robert Hinkamper.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 Am in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St. Francis Church or Quincy Notre Dame. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
What a gracious lady she was. I greatly enjoyed lengthy conversations with her husband, Ray, who seemed to have an interest and an iron grasp of every subject. And in a single conversation, Ray would get around to talking about many of them That’s the reason I was so taken by Rosemary. She was a gracious and patient woman. She had to be. Just as Ray did, she was proud of the accomplishments of her children and their spouses and grandchildren. The only difference between Ray and Rosemary is that she was leaner in the number of words when talking about them. I know she and Ray are sharing stories and love againn. Deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

I’m so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing Ric.
I knew Ray from the time my son (who is now a grandpa)learned to play football as an 8 year old on the Redskins. Later Ray and his sons became a customer of my husband John and me at Quincy Freightliner. Rob was a personal friend until his passing. Randy has taken care of all of my heating and cooling needs for as long as I can remember. All of this time Rosie held it all together in the background. I never met her personally, but from the wonderful sons she raised I know she was a great lady. I pray for strength for all of you during this difficult time. You guys are truly a special family with great parents.
She has been called home. I am so sorry to discover this today. I know Ray was waiting for her at the Gates of Heaven.

Both your parents were great. The name Hinkamper gos back many years with my family when they all went to St. Rose. From the grandparents to Raymond. He was really loved with Rosemary and has he told me the last St. Patricks he attened,, she raised our kids right.
