Rosella Ann Wheeler

Rosella Ann Wheeler age 87, of Quincy died on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. in Blessing Hospital. She was born November 23, 1926 in Quincy, a daughter of Alfred & Florence (Blaesing) Lawrence. She married Charles Wheeler, Jr. on August 8, 1945 and he preceded her in death on January 31, 1996.

Rosella was a 1944 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School. She was a lifelong member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. She had been an active member of the Ladies of St. Francis, also a member and past-president of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She had served as Cub-Scout leader, and worked at the former Art-Craft of Quincy. Rosella loved crocheting and was known for making doilies.

Survivors include her children, Roseann Bonebrake of Quincy; Carolyn Karman of Chillicothe, IL; Chuck Wheeler and his wife Danya; Ray Wheeler and his wife Linda all of Quincy; Randy Wheeler and his wife Melody of Barry, IL. Her sisters, Mary Gay and her husband Carson “Jr”; Margaret Huelsmeyer and her husband Don all of Quincy; Charlotte Woodworth and her husband Paul of Ursa; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Lawrence of Quincy.
Grandchildren, Lynn (Jim) Doellman; Beth (Mark) Tyrpin; Gail (Billy) Ham; Jill (Burt) Shackleton; Ann (Shawn) Myers; Kate (Dan) Nuessen; Dirk Bonebrake; Zach Bonebrake; Ronald Squires; Ryan (Michelle) Squires, Kendra Karman; Kris (Todd) Eyler; Erin Angell; Jennifer (Joey) Brown; Charles (Amber) Wheeler; Billie Rae (Brad) Grawe; Gabe (Kelly) Wheeler; Randy (Dusty) Wheeler, Jr. and David (Dawn) Wheeler. Forty-two great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Rosella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons, Bill Wheeler and twins Duane who died in infancy & David Wheeler; a brother Robert Lawrence and a grandson Russell Squires.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00p.m., there will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Francis School for Technology Needs.

    I wanted to express my condolences and sympathies to the Wheeler and Lawrence families for your loss of Rosella. Although many years have passed, my memories are fresh with thoughts of her during those times I spent at the Wheeler house. My prayers are with her and you.
