Rose Ann ‘Rosie’ Brown
Rose Ann “Rosie” Brown age 73, of Quincy died on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 8:34 p.m. in Blessing Hospital. Rosie was born in Quincy on October 19, 1943 a daughter of Edward C. and Genevieve R. (Klues) Strieker. She married Jerry L. Brown on April 25, 1964 in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Jerry preceded Rosie in death on October 23, 2014.
Rosie worked for over 30 years in Food Services and Catering for Moorman’s L.E.D. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in 1962.
Rosie was an active member of the Church of St. Peter where she served as a greeter at mass, she provided food dishes for funeral luncheons and Sunday morning refreshments. She devoted her time to the Adoration Chapel, and had participated in T.E.C., Quest, Engaged and Marriage Encounter. She was also an Auxiliary Member of the Legion of Mary. Rosie liked cooking, getting together with her family, and participating in her grandkid’s activities. She enjoyed traveling, and the frequent trips that she made to Bailey’s Fudge and Coffee Shop.
Survivors include her two children, David E. Brown and his wife Cindy and Christine M. Hermann (Jerry Hanlin) all of Quincy; grandchildren, Scott Hermann, Parker, Braden, Kaitlyn & Lydia Brown; two sisters, Sue Ellen McCarthy of Quincy and Kathryn Smith of Scottsdale, AZ; a sister-in-law, Barb Strieker of Quincy; three brothers-in-law, Richard Watts of Bradenton, FL; Jacke Brown (Bob Manxx) and Ronnie (Paulette) Brown all of Quincy. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Tom Strieker; a grandson Austin Hermann; a sister, Mary Watts; brothers-in-law, Richard McCartney and Walter Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter by Monsignor Leo Enlow. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to Blessing Cancer Center; Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to her Grandchildren’s Education Fund.

Even though we didn’t see them as often in later years they were both always so welcoming to us. They both always had a smile. Rosie was a gem & hold on to the wonderful memories you have of her.

We were shocked to hear that your mother had passed away. I knew that she was in the hospital, but someone told me that she had come home. At least now her suffering is at an end and she will be reunited in Heaven with your dad and Austin. She was a very special and loving person.
