Rosalie “Sis” Wellman Obert

Rosalie “Sis” Wellman Obert, of Quincy, died at 9:21 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022 in Blessing Hospital.
Sis was born August 26, 1932 in Quincy, a daughter of Raymond and Clara (Schreacke) Wellman. She married Virgil P. Obert on October 11, 1950 in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Quincy. He preceded her in death July 24, 2007.

In addition to being a homemaker, Sis helped run the family gas and oil station. She was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church and the Ladies of St. Francis where she held various offices. She served on committees for the funeral dinners and the card parties. She also cooked at St. Francis Grade School for many years.

Sis was a former member of Cedar Crest Country Club, and a member of Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She also helped many years at the K of C. BBQ in the fish and chicken tents. Sis belonged to many card clubs and was a league bowler for many years.

Survivors include her nine children, Dennis Obert and his wife Lois (Conrad) of Louisville, KY; Terry Obert and his wife Darlene (Spoonmore) of Quincy; Kay Peter and her husband Ray of Fowler; Tom Obert; Sue Frericks and her husband Mark; Mary Jane Davis and husband Van; Darrell Obert and his wife Gina (Conrad); Chuck Obert and his wife Teena (Daggett) all of Quincy; and Chris Obert and his wife Denise (Joplin) of Springfield, MO. She had 25 Grandchildren, 35 Great-Grandchildren with one on the way, and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
Three brothers: Kenneth Wellman, Ronald Wellman (Sue) and Bill Wellman; Two sisters: Norma Jean Obert and Mary Ann Hildebrand (David). Sisters and brothers-in-law: Norma Obert, Anna Mae Liggett; Leroy Obert (Delores) and Joyce Wellman.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, a daughter, Cathy, three grandchildren, Tina Davis, Ryan Peter and April Rohn; one great grandchild, Daulton Gibson; two brothers, Edwin (MaryAnn) Wellman and Eugene Wellman; brothers and sisters-in-law: Mary Lou Wellman, Mary Louise Wellman, Rita Obert in infancy, Irene and Paul Schreacke, Dolly and Lawrence Schreacke, Wilfred and Florence Obert, Kenneth Obert, Edward Obert, Betty and Jim Brinkman, Carlene and Charlie Peters and Bob Liggett.

The Obert family extends their thanks to Cedarhurst Memory Care and staff for their care of Mom since March of this year.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2022 in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at St. Francis. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Grade School or to the K of C Mass of Shut-Ins.
