Rosalie E. Weir

Rosalie E. Weir, 94, of Barry, formerly of Quincy, died Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in the Barry Community Care Center. She was born November 13, 1922 in Kinderhook, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph W. and Melvina (Reed) Kenady. She married Donald S. Weir on October 12, 1940 in Mexico, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 12, 2009.

Rosalie graduated from Hull High School and was “Miss Hull” when she was 18.
She was a homemaker, a wonderful cook and an excellent musician. She was a member of Eastern Star, Spring Lake Country Club and Hull United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son R. Michael (Dotty) Weir of Mackinaw, Il. and her daughter Tamara Cassady of Quincy; six grandchildren, Christopher (Keri) Cassady, Brandon (Nicki) Cassady, Ryan (Sylvia) Cassady, Todd (Debbie) Weir, Tim (Angie) Weir and Wendy (Dan) Basham and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; brothers, Leroy and Richard Kenady and a sister, Mildred Fletcher.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hull United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and 10:00 until the time of services Friday morning at the Church. Interment will be in Akers Chapel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Akers Chapel Cemetery or the Barry Community Care Center.
