Rosa Lee ‘Rosie’ Barrigar
Rosa Lee ‘Rosie’ Barrigar, age 89, of Palmyra, formerly of Quincy, went home to her Lord and Savior on February 2, 2024 in Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Palmyra. Her family was by her side. She was born on February 15, 1934 in Missouri. She married John Barrigar and from that union were born two children.
Rosie worked tirelessly her entire life as a caregiver through multiple jobs to support her family. Through this and many other examples she showed her girls the meaning of independence, hard work and sacrifice. She had a very witty personality and loved to laugh, Her family was her highest priority and cherished the time spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rosie was able to spend her final years doing things she loved. She watched and fed the birds outside of her window. She watched Old Westerns and mysteries. She enjoyed barbecue sauce on everything and could never pass up a hamburger with raw onions.
Rosie was always a Christian and had a strong faith in Jesus.
She is survived by:
TWO DAUGHTERS: Pam Barrigar-Fleck (Chris) and Becky Gengenbacher (Rick).
SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN: Bryan Nokes (Stephanie), Kyle Nokes, and Erika Nokes; Karlee Bruenger (Regan), Kassidy Metcalfe (Connor), Kristen Mahoney (Kim ‘KJ’) and Kendra Ramsey (Matthew).
GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Nevaeh, Eden, Myracle and Amber Nokes; Evie and Isaac Ott, Kaedon and Kyra Smith; Blaize, Nolan, and Archie Bruenger; Sandon, Steel and Scottie Metcalfe; and Willow Ramsey.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents Verne and Letha (Davis) Goodwin, an infant son, John Barrigar III, and siblings Robert and Billy Goodwin and a sisters Shirley Dean and Dorothy Ristensund.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Private family burial will take place at a later date. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
