Ronnie Merle Doyle
Ronnie Merle Doyle, age 82, of Fowler, IL went to his final resting place on the morning of Saturday, February 19, 2022, in his home in the arms of his wife. Ronnie was born in Pittsfield, IL on July 3, 1939, a son of Merle “Jack” Doyle and Bulla Anne Tickus. He married his wife Patty Doyle on July 3, 1992, the same day as his birthday so he “would never forget the date”, she survives him.
Ronnie was Chairman of the Board at Doyle Equipment MFG., a family owned and operated business, founded by his late father, Merle “Jack”, in 1951. His son, Monty, President, and grandchildren continue on the family business but will never be able to top his title as “Doyle’s number one salesman”.
Anyone that knew Ronnie, knew he took great pride in Stag Beer. His famous saying, “we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Stag Beer!” stemmed from his start in the business at the age of 13 when he started working alongside his father Jack and his father’s partner, Merlin Adams, delivering and distributing Stag out of Quincy’s riverfront.
Ronnie was well known for his love of hunting with his son, grandsons, and customers in Pleasant Hill, fishing on the lake at his home with his best friend, Dick Taylor, and having a good glass of wine and bowl of ice cream at dinner with his girls.
Ronnie was a proud Christian Brother’s alumni, US Army Reserve Veteran, and member of the Crossing Church, where he was baptized by Pastor Jerry Harris in 2015.
He will forever be remembered for his continuous faith in God, deep love of family and friends, and his contagious belly laughter.
Ronnie was predeceased in death by his parents, Merle Doyle and Anne Tickus and his great grandson, Hawk Dean Doyle. He is survived by his wife, Patty, his children, Monty Doyle, Julie (John) Gerst, and Jamie Fowler, grandchildren, Colten (Emilee) Doyle, Catherine (Max) Dancer, Caylin (Blaise) Haxel, Case Doyle, Lakian Lehenbauer, Tyler Gerst, Casch Doyle, Taylor Gerst, Nicholas Fowler, and Bryden Doyle, and his great grandchild Bodie Dancer.
Visitation is to be held at The Crossing Church on 48th Street in Quincy from 3:00pm- 6:00pm on Friday, February 25, 2022 followed by an Irish celebration of his life with appetizers and drinks at 7:00 pm at Port’s Place in Quincy where all friends and family are invited to share in stories and laughs honoring Ronnie. Services and burial will be private for his family. Service arrangements are in care of Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.

Monty and All – I was greatly saddened to hear of Ron’s passing. I am so thankful he and I had a chance to visit together for a time in Bloomington last August. The stories I could tell over the last 40 years we had all known each other, but probably can’t! I will miss Ron.
Monty and Julie…..so sorry to read about your Dad. You both are in my thoughts and prayers, I have many fond memories of our families spending time together.

Ron was a great boss. He threw countless parties for us including hog roasts, playing euchre and Christmas parties with wonderful food and sometimes even a band. One St Patrick’s day he rented a limo and took the girls in the office to St Boniface for corned beef dinner and even had champagne in the limo! My condolences to Patty and Monty. Let’s all raise a toast to Ron on March 17!

Do to a previous appointment could not be there. Am sorry for that. We had a lot of fun over the years, from horse shows to fishin and your mom takin us on picnics with her super fried chicken. Later with our families. Have a peaceful journey, See you there good buddy

I didn’t know Ron well-but he liked to cut our grass at Wayland Farms for a case of wine! My kind of guy!
He loved to scour our farm for mushrooms and always left after he told a corny joke.
He will be missed by his family and anyone who hung around the bottoms.

To the Doyle family, I was so sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. I remember goose hunting with my Dad, Ron and Albert in the bottoms when I was in high school. We always enjoyed running in to him at Tiramasu’. May he Rest in Peace!

Ronnie was such a upbeat guy. I had the opportunity to talk with him many times of the years. Always funny, welcoming and a wealth of information.
