Ronald Wand

Ronald Leonard Wand Sr. age 69, of 1107 E. 1453rd Lane died on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 in Blessing Hospital. Ronald was born July 13, 1939 in Quincy, IL a son of Leonard and Hilda (Knuffman) Wand.
He married Betty Justus on December 15, 1970 and she survives. He was a 1957 graduate of Christian Brothers High School.

Ronald had worked at Schemming’s Clothing, Big L Construction, Concrete Finishers Union, Sparks and Wiewel Construction retiring in 2004.

His hobbies included camping, hunting, fishing, woodworking and he was an avid Cub Fan
Ron’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family.
He was a former member of the Moose, the North Side Boat Club and Boy Scouts of America.
In addition to his wife Betty, survivors include his children:

Russell Wand and wife Ruby of Woodbridge, VA;
Monica Steffen and husband Roy of Clayton IL;
Laura Henninger and husband John of Liberty IL;
Melissa Wellman and husband Gary of St. Charles, MO.
Grandkids:
Royce Steffen and wife Trish of Clayton, IL;
Joshua Wand and wife Dawn of Quincy, IL;
Shawnna Perkins and husband Mike of Liberty, IL;
Shaun Henninger and wife Cassie of Columbia, MO;
Michelle Henninger of Liberty, IL;
Cassie, Toni, Brandi, Zackary, and Tyler Wellman of St. Charles MO.
Great Grandkids:
AJ Steffen, Autumn, Aiden, and Aubrey Perkins, Brendan and Xian Wand
Brother in law: Ed Adcox; and wife Donna, Sister in law: Maggie Payne and husband Rev. Lewis all of Quincy; Nephews, nieces, family and friends; his pets: Darcy and Scruffy and special friends: Candy and Thelma Stark of Quincy also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, children Tammy and Darrell Wand, grandson Garrett Michael Wellman, a brother Larry Wand and infant brother, Donald Wand.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church by the Rev. Jeff Stone. Interment will be in St. Brigid Cemetery, Liberty. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy. There will be a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Blessing Cancer Center or the Quincy Humane Society. www.dukerandhaugh.com

    My uncle Ronald Wand was a great man with tremendous values. I always looked up to him.
    His love for his family was unmatched and the quality of his work was no less than perfect.
    He was always loved by everyone in our family. Although separated by the distance of Illinois to
    texas my Uncle Ronald Aunt Betty and all my cousins are in our hearts. Love Aaron, Debra, Kids and family!!

    Our prayers and thought go with the family. Ronnie was a wonderful friend, he will be missed by many. His laughter, smile and wit… with an answer for everything (even if it always wasn’t the right one). He loved life,his memory will live on in each of our hearts.
