Ronald “Ron” K. Martin

Ronald “Ron” K. Martin age 71, of 3504 North 5th St. Quincy died on Friday, December 24, 2010 at 8:10 p.m. in his home.

Ron was born June 26, 1939 in Fishhook, IL a son of Ralph and Ora (Henthorn) Martin. He married Theresa Gerding on November 26, 1975 and she survives. Ron had worked as an estimator for Diamond Construction and other area construction companies. He retired in 2001 after working ten year at Titan Wheel.

He was a member of the Teamsters and was a 41 year-member of the Quincy Masonic Lodge , AF & Am #296. Ron was a member and current President of Rocky Point Democratic Club and member and Past-President of South Side Boat Club. He was also a member of Twin Oaks, the Eagles and the Grace Whipple Chapter #312 Order of the Eastern Star.

Ron enjoyed hunting and shooting trap at SSBC, which he did for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa;
his mom, Ora Brueshard (Amos) of Oakley, IL;
His children: Jeffrey Martin (Penny) of Liberty; Kim Garkie of LaGrange, MO; Mike Martin (Gina) of Quincy; Teresa Powell of Pontiac, IL, Dale Martin and Chris Vogel both of Texas; Billy Martin (Sue)
of Liberty, IL;

A sister, Jane Grotjan (Roger) and a brother, Ed Martin (Ann) all of Oakley, IL;
Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Ron was preceded in death by his dad, and a sister, Judy Stoufer.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, there will be a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Quincy Humane Society or to the Blessing Cancer Center.

    Every memory I have of Uncle Ronnie brings a smile to my face. You will be forever loved and missed. You are remembered every time I hear my own dads voice…you and dad were a lot alike in many ways. Aunt Theresa & family, I am so very sorry for your great loss.
