Ronald L. “Ron” Reinhart

Ronald L. “Ron” Reinhart, age 78, of 2124 South 40th, died on Friday, October 5, 2012 in Blessing Hospital after an eleven year battle against cancer. He was born on September 4, 1934 in Quincy, IL the son of Ralph & Helen (Mettemeyer) Reinhart. He was a graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School. He married Barbara Henke on November 26, 1960 in St. Boniface Catholic Church. She survives. Mr. Reinhart worked for Moorman Manufacturing Research Department for 42 years until his retirement. Ron also worked as a bartender for over 30 years. He served in the United States Navy from 1957 until 1959. Mr. Reinhart was an active member of St. Francis Catholic Church where he ushered, was part of the Holy Name Society and served at funeral masses. He was a long time and dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus. He was past Grand Knight having served in that capacity twice. He was a member of the 4th Degree Color Guard. He was inducted in to the Springfield Diocese Knights of Columbus Hall of Fame. Ron helped with the Bar-B-Que and the tootsie roll drive. He was a voting delegate at the KC State Convention for ten years. He also served as the studio director for the TV Mass for Shut Ins. Over the years Mr. Reinhart also held numerous other KC offices and volunteer positions. Ron helped his wife with Girl Scouts for 10 years. He delivered Meals on Wheels for numerous years. Ron was a member of the RSVP and as a local blood donor he donated over 13 gallons of blood over the years. Ron was also an avid bowler and was inducted in to the Quincy Bowlers Hall of Fame. He had achieved 3 “300” games in his career. He was also inducted in to the Quincy Notre Dame Football Hall of Fame.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, Ron is also survived by:
FIVE CHILDREN: Joann Jouett and her husband Paul of Bethalto, IL; Diann Cole and her husband Ernie of Quincy; Suzann Ansell and her husband Bob of Quincy; Robin Wellman and her husband Dick of Quincy; and Karen Reinhart of Maryland Heights, MO
SIX GRANDCHILDREN: Ryan Jouett and Jacob Jouett, Kenneth Reinhart; Alyssa Cole; Alexandra Ansell and Nathan Ansell
TWO SISTERS: Ruth Alderton and Margie Sifuentes
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister: Sandra Snyder, and two brothers: Gerald and Kenneth Reinhart.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 with a prayer service at 6:00 and a Knights of Columbus Service to follow. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic School, the K of C. TV Mass for Shut-Ins, Meals on Wheels, the Blessing Cancer Center or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.

    We don’t know of anyone who fought the cancer battle harder than Ron. May he rest in peace.

    Ruth I am so sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. He left a great moral legacy for his family and for his church and the community.
