Ronald John Wellman
Ronald John Wellman, age 71, of 6812 Judy Ave., Quincy, died on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at 4:15 p.m. in his home. He was born on November 20, 1942 in Quincy, a son of Clarence E. & Sylvia E. (Kroner) Wellman. He married Brenda K. Yackle on April 9, 1977 in Quincy. She survives.
Ron was a Quincy businessman and ordained minister. He opened Ron’s Tire Service in 1977 and proudly owned and operated the business for many years. He retired in 2004 after attaining numerous awards and breaking records in the tire industry.
In retirement, Ron loved leading others to the Lord, his heart’s desire was fulfilled by helping others to know Jesus as their Lord & Savior. His passion was helping others in any way that he could.
Ron was a 1960 graduate of Christian Brothers High School. He was a member of Riverside Community Church.
He was an avid sportsman, enjoying turkey and ‘coon hunting as well as fishing.
Ron was a die-hard Cub’s Fan.
In addition to his wife, Brenda, he is survived by his mother Sylvia Wellman of Quincy;
seven children, Amber Wellman of Tampa, FL, Justin Wellman and his wife Christy of Taylor, MO, Teresa Patterson and her husband Mark, Tammy Andresen and her husband Greg all of Quincy, Jeff Speckhart and his wife Beth Ann of Princeville, IL, Wendy Chatfield and her husband Randy of Salado, TX and Dawn Wellman of Quincy; eleven grandchildren, Taylor, Savannah, Shaun, Scott, Allison, Andrew, Nick, Tyler, Shandi, Josh and special little Buddy Isaac; four great-grandchildren, Natalie, Brody, Bailey & Destiny; a twin brother Donald (Sharon) Wellman of Quincy; four sisters, Phyllis Grussenmeyer of Quincy, Karen Reeves of Cullman, AL, Judy Sharp of Las Vegas, NV & Joanne Eversden (Sparky) of Quincy; and his mother-in-law, Mary Harker of Quincy.
Numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, a niece Joy Wellman, and brothers-in-law Danny Reeves, Dana Sharp & Don Grussenmeyer.
To honor Ron’s wishes, private family services will be held at a later date.

Our deepest sympathy to the family. We enjoyed Ron as we were neighbors with him at Lake of the Oaks and we enjoyed visisting with him there and in St. Patrick at the post office. A good friend and neighbor.

My heartfelt condolences to the family. Ron was an awesome friend, confidant, and Spiritual Angel to my late husband Don Russell during his 14 years of dealing with cancer. You take what God gives you and deal with it the best you can is what Ron would tell us and we did , knowing Ron was right there pulling for us. He will be missed.
I have many memories of Ronnie as he and my Dad Frank Steffen coon hunted together so many years. I’m blessed to have known him as many others have been as well. HIs laugh, smile, and love for life will be missed.
Brother Ron was a great help to the television station over the year. He did a TV program here for many years called Golden Nuggets. In this show he would share a “Golden Nugget” from the scriptures. In the old days, Brother Ron, Ed Cambell, and Bill Uppinghouse, made quite the ministry team here at WTJR on Wednesdays when their programs where recorded, many came forward for prayer, deliverance and healing that day, Including Bill Uppinghouse, whose hand was healed and he started playing piano for the Lord after that. Brother Ron was a very salt of the earth type person I would say a lot like Peter in the new testament and I say that as a compliment. My heartfelt prayers and thoughts are with you all at your time of loss. I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Ron and ministering with him during the Great Awakening tour in Quincy and Hannibal. He was a great encouragement to me as a fairly new evangelist. I will never forget the day we went out soul winning. He helped reignite my fire for the things of the Lord and my passion. I remember Ron Wellman and his beautiful family when I was a young girl living on South Park Terrace. He was always kind and giving to friends and family. He was always very kind and good towards me. I became really good friends with his two daughters Dawn and Wendy Wellman. I wish to give my sincere sympathies towards these two beautiful women
and rest of his family. God knew he was tired and he was called home. One day down the road this wonderful loving family will once again be reunited. God bless them and may God be with them through their grieving. They’re are in my thoughts and prayers.
