Ronald Grant

Ronald W. Grant, age 84, of Curtis Creek Apartments, died on Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Blessing Hospital. Ronald was born December 24, 1932 in Keokuk, Iowa a son to Amos W. and Hattie M. (Simmons) Grant. He married Patricia Guthrie on February 24, 1952 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on November 25, 2011.

Ron graduated from Quincy High School in 1950. He was in the army during the Korean War.
He retired as the general manager for K&B Builders in West Quincy, MO.

Ron was previously a member in Eagles AERIE # 535. He was a member and the former quartermaster of the V.F.W. Post 5129, American Legion Post 37, Southside Boat Club, Northside Boat Club. Ron loved cars and in earlier years was a member of the Edsel Owners Club, Corvair Society of America, Cosworth Vega Owners Association and the Mississippi Valley Historic Auto Club. Ron was an avid duck hunter and member of the Jeeters River Camp.

Ron is survived by his children: Ronald J. (Sharon) Grant of Hebron, IN; Gary (Margo) Grant of Heber Springs, AR; Toni (Marty) Gerlach of Quincy, Brad (Susan) Grant of Quincy; and Malinda Kelsey of Kansas City, MO; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Ron was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Jerry Grant and Don Grant.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Private Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery with military rites at a later date. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12:00 noon until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to the Great River Honor Flight.
