Rolland D. “Ron” Nelson
Rolland D. ‘Ron’ Nelson, Sr., age 92, of 409 W. Fairway Dr., died on February 9, 2016 at 5:13 AM in Blessing Hospital. He was born on April 14, 1923 in Quincy, IL the son of Carl & Ethel (Kincheloe) Nelson. He first married Katherine Hunter on June 30, 1946. She preceded him in death on February 27, 1991. He later married Joann Hall Jackman on February 7, 1992. She survives. Mr. Nelson owned and operated Nelson Industrial Park for many years, dealing in Mack & Kenworth trucks. Mr. Nelson served in the United States Navy during World War II and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Elks, Spring Lake Country Club, the Masons and the Shriners. He was an avid golfer and golf enthusiast.
In addition to his wife, Joann, he is also survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: Rolland D. ‘Ron’ Nelson, Jr. and his significant other Cherri Woeber of Jupiter, FL; and Lori Meuth and her husband John of Quincy
FOUR GRANDCHILDREN: Brittany Nelson; Jacob Rainbolt and his wife Amy; Jordan Meuth and Katy Meuth.
FOUR GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Carissa Orr, Mercayah Rainbolt, Memphis Rainbolt and Eli Rainbolt
THREE STEP-CHILDREN: Scott Jackman and his wife Dorothy of Tampa, FL; Tracy Jackman of Oviedo, FL and Kelly Bergel of Jupiter, FL;
THREE STEP-GRANDHCILDREN: Hayden Squadrito; Austin Bergel and Clayton Bergel.
IN addition to his first wife, Ron was also preceded in death by: a sister: Bernadine “Bernie” Harding and a step-son: Mark Jackman.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 10:30 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Pastor Steve Hayden. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Hospital Foundation.

My deepest sympathy to you and your family. May God give you comfort and peace and may your Dad rest in peace. I remember all the fun times when we were kids…..especially how much your Dad loved to grill-out.
