Roger William Butts

Roger William Butts age 72, of Quincy died on Saturday, September 16, 2017 in his home. Roger was born July 20, 1945 in Aurora, IL, the only son of Vernon and Annabelle (Lowe) Butts. He married Barbara Ann Dice on September 25, 1995 in Bailey Harbor, WI and she survives.

After serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, Roger worked at J.M. Huber Co. for 31 years prior to retiring. Retirement brought him much happiness playing golf at Westview with his “golf buddies,” and driving cars for both Poage dealerships with his “driving buddies”.

In addition to his wife, survivors also include his children, Will (Lori) Butts of Palmyra, MO; Laura (Ed) Steinway of Chatham, IL, and Jennifer (John) Perry of Bloomington, IL. Grandchildren, Abby and Maddie Steinway; Nathan Butts; Dalton Bush; and David and Lyla Perry.
His sister Betty (Butch) Gronewold of Ursa, IL; brothers and sisters in law, Donna (Dale) Frericks of Quincy; and Donald (Kathy) Dice of Arbela, MO.

Nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews: Jason (Katie) Frericks and their daughter Clara; Heather (Brent) Schmidt and their children Tristan and Annabelle; Kelly (Mark) Thannert and their daughter Olivia; Stefanie (David) Ford and their children Ethan and Natalie; Nicole (Jason) Marshall and their daughter Alyssia; and Matt Dice.

His special little ones that brought him so much sunshine and laughs on some difficult days: Brody and Brenner Cole; Laci and Ty Novosel; Landon and Harper Douglas; Mark Morriss; Tynan England and Hayley Buckley.
Roger’s very best four-legged friends Chloe and Pee Wee also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his mother and father-in-law, Eldon and Anna Dice.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in Greenmount Cemetery by Rev. Steve Disseler. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by American Legion Post #37 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail. There is no visitation, but family and friends are invited to the graveside services.
Memorials are suggested to the Quincy Humane Society or to Blessing Home Care.

    My deepest, heartfelt condolences to Roger’s family and friends with passing. I worked with him AT Huber as a very young lady and he was ALWAYS kind and helpful to me.
