Roger Lawrence Geers
Roger Lawrence Geers, age 74, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of Taylor, MO, died on Thursday, October 2, 2014 in the Illinois Veterans Home. He was born on April 23, 1940 in Quincy, IL, the son of Lawrence Geers and Anne Reuser. He attended Quincy Senior High School. Roger married Carol Jean Rosswog on September 6, 1958 in St. Francis Catholic Church, Quincy. She survives.
Mr. Geers served in the United States Army from October of 1958 until 1964, during the Bay of Pigs Crisis. Roger was the General Sales Manager for a number of Quincy Car Dealers. He owned Top Hat R/C Junction Radio Control Hobbies. He also operated the Taylor Airport from 1983 until 2009. Roger was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and was active in the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish.

FOUR CHILDREN: Jeannie Reddick and her husband Ron of Marblehead, IL; Randy Geers of St. Louis, MO, Brenda Gustafson and her husband Ken of Venice, FL; Karen Morris of Taylor, MO.
FIVE GRANDCHILDREN: Cory Cady and his wife Valerie; Leanne Crowell and her husband Richard; Erin Lamatis and her husband Josh; Bradley Gustafson; and Matthew Morris
FOUR GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Kimber Cady; Payton Crowell, Autumn Crowell and Gabriel Crowell.
Nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gerald Geers and a sister Patricia Gates .
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 9:30 in the All Faiths Chapel of the Illinois Veterans Home. A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the All Faiths Chapel of the Illinois Veterans Home. Interment in Sunset Cemetery. Memorials may be made to All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veteran’s Home, Blessed Sacrament Church, Muscular Dystrophy Association or the activities fund of Fifer Building at the Illinois Veteran’s Home.
Roger was wonderful friend to all as a member of EAA chapter 488. We all will ‘dip a wing’ to him each time we fly over the old field. So sorry for your loss.
