Rodney L. Brown, age 65, of Quincy, died on Thursday, January 5, 2023 in his home. He was born on March 9,1957 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Edward & Ruth (Woodworth) Brown.

Rodney served in the United States Army. Rod’s sense of humor is a legacy that has continued in his children. He could laugh through any situation, including his own heart attack and recovery. While he tried to hide behind his scraggly beard and humbug attitude, he could never hide his smile for long as he joked with neighbors, friends, and family. Rod enjoyed doing things with his hands, including putting together model cars and working in the garden. Rod loved going to car shows to check out the hot rods and could never pass up a toy aisle without buying some Hot Wheels. Everyone who knew him knew of his deep love and pride for his children and his many grandchildren.

TWO CHILDREN: Melissa (Jason) DeVerger of Quincy and Edward (Victoria) Brown of Quincy.
GRANDCHILDREN: Kayzley (David) Luthy, Michael Smith, Daniel DeVerger, Elizabeth DeVerger, Joshua Brown and Justin Brown.
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Coy, Colt and Cohen Luthy
A SISTER: Peggy Pope.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Rodney’s life will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the Quincy Senior Center. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
