Robert W. Quinn, 87, died at Good Samaritan Home on Wednesday, December 2, 2015.

Bob was born July 28, 1928. He married Kathleen Reel on Aug. 5, 1950, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. They were married for 48 years until her death on Jan. 9, 1998.

Bob was always quick with a joke and ready to help anyone in need whenever possible. He enjoyed outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing and boating. He used his boating skills while volunteering with the Quincy Volunteer Emergency Corp. whenever needed. He volunteered there for decades and served as vice commander of the unit in 1985. He received a certificate of appreciation from the QVEC in 1980 for outstanding service and dedication to the organization.

His career was spent at Moorman Manufacturing Co, retiring in 1985 from the maintenance department after more than 40 years of service. He received the Moorman Manufacturing Co’s Wilson-Caldwell Achievement Award in 1985 for his outstanding community service with the QVEC.

Bob was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church and the Western Catholic Union. He was a lifetime member of the North Side Boat Club, and also was a member of the Twin Oaks Club, Ducks Unlimited and the Mississippi Valley Hunters and Fisherman’s Association.

He and Kathleen had no children of their own, but Bob was very close with his seven nieces and nephews, who survive. They are Janice Wiemelt of Quincy; Mary Keck of Spring, Texas; Roberta Feltes of Honolulu; Susanne Edwards of Springfield, Il.; Richard Deters of Sacramento, Calif.; Barbara Deters of St. Louis, Mo., and Phillip Deters of Springfield, Il. Also surviving is his close friend Florence Grawe.

Besides his wife, he is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Quinn; brother John Quinn; and parents Matthew and Lucy Lock Quinn, all of Quincy.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 10:30 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 11:00 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus TV Mass for Shut-Ins or the St. Francis Food Pantry.
