Robert Sean McCormick
Robert Sean McCormick, age 45, of Liberty, IL, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 2:29 p.m. in his home. He was born on September 18, 1970 in Springfield, IL, the son of Bobby Gene and Phyllis Balzer McCormick.
Rob was a 1988 graduate of Springfield Southeast High School. He attended SIU-Carbondale. He worked at the distribution center and as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. He had been married, but was divorced.
Rob was a knowledgeable and well-read individual who shared his love of reading and the power of thinking. He was a kind-hearted, very talented musician, artist, philosopher, and wordsmith. Rob created metaphorical stories and works of art that sparked a new perspective in the recipient. His belief in universal spirituality allowed him to rise above the separatist attitudes and appreciate the world around him.
In addition to his parents, Bob and Phyllis McCormick of Springfield, IL, he is survived by his sister Kim McCormick Stegeman and her husband Mark Edward Stegeman of Hollister, CA. He was the beloved uncle of Ashley Marie Stegeman of Monterey, CA; Kristin Nicole Stegeman of San Luis Obispo, CA; and John Andrew “Jack” Stegeman of Hollister, CA.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service will be held at a later date. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
I just found out about Rob’s passing. I went to high school with him. I remember him as a very kind person. I’m sorry to hear he’s gone. RIP from a fellow music lover.

I knew you before I knew myself. I grew up with you and you were like my other big brother. Your understanding of music and words changed the way I looked at the world. I will always remember the days we all spent together and will never forget how you taught me to “play” the drums
Rob was a band mate and a great friend. He had a mind like no other and never once was there ever a dull moment or conversation with him in all the time I knew him. A beloved friend and musician. One of a kind in so many ways.
I worked with Rob for a few years in Quincy. Loved his company and conversation. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Rob was a great guy! I remember meeting him when he was playing with the Texas Funerals. We shared a drum set, and I found out randomly that we went to the same high school. My condolences go out to his loved ones.
I knew Rob in the halls of southeast. He was an artist and musician back then and will continue to shine in the heavens. My condolences to his family and friends.
Sadly, I never had the pleasure to meet Rob, but I have adored his sister Kim and her family for many, many years. If Rob was related to Kim, he was surely a very special person. May he Rest In Peace.
I really enjoyed knowing Rob many years ago in Champaign, Illinois…a creative and kind soul. My condolences to his loved ones.
