Robert Schisler

Robert “Daddy” Schisler, 91, died peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at the IL Veterans Home in Quincy. Born May 2, 1926 near London Mills IL . Son of Homer P. & Nada (Mitchell) Schisler. He married Velma Guenther on June 15, 1947 in Abingdon, sharing 70 years together.
He is survived by wife, Velma; daughter, Sharon (Michael) Wilson of So. Jacksonville; granddaughter, Jennifer Arnold (Brent McEuen) & great granddaughter, Jorgia Arnold of Pittsfield. Siblings Betty Sickles & Donald (Darlene) Schisler of Abingdon and Junior Schisler of Michigan and many nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by his parents & siblings J. Fred, Berlon, Giles, Muriel Derry, Bradley, Dorla Dwyer, Lois Munson, Jack & James.
He served in Army as MP & decorated Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal & Army of Occupation Medal (Japan).
He loved carpentry, locksmith and helping others. He worked at Andrews Lumber Co. in Jacksonville. He was very active at Central Christian Church & volunteered at Passavant Hospital in gift shop, oncology, Lifeline & was Volunteer of the Year. He was active & Past President of Jacksonville Lions Club.
A visitation in Jacksonville will be held at Central Christian Church on Saturday, January 20 from 2-4pm. In Quincy a Funeral will be held at the IL Veterans Home Chapel on January 26. Visitation from 9am-10 and Memorial Service at 10am at ILVH Chapel. Internment will be at Sunset Cemetery on the ILVH grounds in Quincy.
