Robert R. Deters

Robert R. Deters, 94, of Quincy, died Sunday, December 6, 2020 in Blessing Hospital. He was born November 7, 1926 in Quincy, the son of William H. and Helen E. (Timpe) Deters. He married Dorothy Jean Price on October 11, 1950, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fowler, IL. This past October the couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Robert was retired from his work at the family’s Dairy farm as manager of Plant Operations. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing golf and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Robert was a true family man, he loved his wife and family and his sister and brothers were always a big part of his life.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
FIVE CHILDREN: Connie (George) Schrage, Janice (Ken) Obert, Sharon (Tom) Phillips of Maywood, MO; Laurie (Marty) Stegeman; and Ken (Faye) Deters of Lexington, KY.
A BROTHER: William H. (Ruth) Deters, Jr. of Quincy IL;
A SISTER: Norma Weiman of Quincy IL.
GRANDCHILDREN: Kenneth (Barbara) Obert; Andrea (Travis) Obert Shelton; Amy (Adam) Obert Mrugacz; Andrew (Christina) Phillips; Sarah (Korey) Phillips Cole; George Schrage IV; Timothy (Heather) Schrage; Kaitlyn (Joshua) Stegeman Phillips; Jacob Stegeman and Nick Stegeman; Keegan Deters and Kyle Newsome.
Several great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Fabian (Virginia), Alvin “Whitey” (Margie), Richard (age 6) and Marcellus “Marce” (Marcella) Deters, a brother-in-law, Bernard Weiman, his mother and father in-law and several brothers and sisters-in-law on the Price side of the family.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter with Monsignor Leo Enlow, celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. If attending, please do wear a face mask and observe social distancing guidelines. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Grade School or St. Dominic Grade School.
