Robert L. Mudd

Robert L. Mudd, age 70, of 3307 Corona RD, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 4:05 a.m. in his home. He was born on September 18, 1938 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Rodney and Rose (Ledbetter) Mudd. Robert married Virginia M. Wellman on April 11, 1959 in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Quincy. She survives.
Bob was a graduate of St. Rose Grade School and Notre Dame High School. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Bob served for 7 years in the National Guard. Bob worked at Vidas Transfer, King Transfer, Electric Wheel Firestone, Watlow, Inc., and also at Stupavsky Tree Service. Bob retired from Trinity Industries.
Bob was an avid Cardinal fan and liked to talk baseball with his grandson. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, working puzzles and watching old western movies.
Bob fought a courageous battle with lung cancer. His faithful dog Skeeter was always at his side.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Jerry R. Mudd of Quincy; Jenita P. Stephens and her husband Jim of Camp Point, IL; and Melissa A. Patterson and her fiancee Jeff Booher of Quincy.
SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN: Michael Stephens and his wife Amber; Sonny Stephens, Corey Stephens, Christy Patterson and her fiancee Justin Wellman; Samantha Patterson and her boyfriend Brian Doss; Danny Patterson and his girlfriend Amanda Call, and David Patterson,
Great-grandchildren: Hayden and Abby Stephens and Baby Parker soon to be born.
ONE BROTHER: Calvin Richard Mudd and his wife Linda of Largo, FL
THREE SISTERS: Judy Woerman and her husband Robert of Quincy; Patricia Lane and her husband Rod of Hull, IL: and Elizabeth Mudd also of Hull.
Many other relatives including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Thomas and Charles Mudd.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 9:45 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:30 in St. Anthony Catholic Church by Father Thomas Hagstrom and Father John Carberry. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5:30. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice, the Blessing Cancer Center; or to the Humane Society.
