Robert L. Madsen
Robert Lawrence Madsen, age 68, of the Illinois Veteran’s Home, died on Thursday, October 22, 2015 in the home. He was born on January 20, 1947 in Champaign, IL, a son of Harold & Mary Patricia (Burrows) Madsen.
Mr. Madsen was an attorney in the Quincy area for many years beginning in the 1970’s. He was a graduate of the University of Kansas and did his post graduate work at the University of Illinois. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.
Robert enjoyed fly fishing and tying his own flies and lures. He also enjoyed listening to music, jogging and gardening.
Survivors include:
SONS: Michael (Laura) Madsen of Quincy and James (Lindsey Turner) Madsen of Boston, MA
STEP-CHILDREN: Curtis Frericks, Nicholas Frericks, Kirstin (Nathan) Sparrow, and Shannon (Clint) Robson.
GRANDCHILDREN: Alexander Madsen, Miranda Madsen, Sullivan Madsen and Everett Madsen.
BROTHER: John (Janet) Madsen
SISTERS: Jean Madsen and Elizabeth (Mike) Madsen.
Numerous other relatives including step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the All Faiths Chapel of the Illinois Veterans Home. Interment in Sunset Cemetery of the Illinois Veterans Home with military honors conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the All Faiths Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activities Fund. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Condolences to the Madsen family, our next-door neighbors for many years on Hampshire Street in Quincy. A lot of great memories.
Well old friend. Many memories. It’s too hard at the moment to reflect much on them without tears.
They will be a comfort later.
