Robert J. Langan, age 80, of Quincy, IL, died on Thursday, December 17, 2009 in the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. He was born on October 7, 1929 in Mt. Sterling, the son of James Francis & Mary Margaret (McConnell) Langan. On July 28, 1956, he married Shirley Rose Volk in Mt. Sterling, IL. She preceded him in death on October 10, 2000.

Mr. Langan worked for the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for 30 plus years. He was a former long-time member of St. John the Baptist Church and presently a member of the Church of St Peter. Robert served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea.

Survivors include:
ONE SON: Michael Langan and his wife Kimberly of Jacksonville, IL.
THREE DAUGHTERS: Barb Langan of St. Louis, MO; Karen Webber and her husband Charles of Peoria; and Nancy Roux and her husband Mike of Quincy.
NINE GRANDCHILDREN: Bryan and Brandon Langan; Caleb Roux and Katie Roux Cernea and her husband Zeke; Connor, Spencer and Parker Dietrich, Jordan and Noah Webber.
TWO GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Ayden and Makenzie Dietrich
ONE SISTER: Mary Shoopman
Numerous other relatives and friends survive.

In addition to his wife, Robert was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Richard and James Langan.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11:30 AM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 12:00 noon at the Church of St. Peter by Father John Burnette. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 3:00 – 6:00 at the funeral home with a parish prayer service at 3:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or to the Church of St. Peter.
