Robert J. “Bob” Essington

Robert Joseph “Bob” Essington age 66, of Fowler, IL was called Home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday morning, November 15, 2012 at the University Medical Center in Chicago. He was born October 19, 1946 in Breese, IL the son of the late Robert D. and JoAnn (Wigner) Essington.

He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Ruth A. Hugo on February 11, 1967, and she survives. Bob was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Quincy. He was a Registered Representative of the Aid Association for Lutheran’s having completed many high level courses for certification. He retired after 32 years of service, and had been working for the past nine years as an independent financial advisor.

Bob loved taking his family on trips to the North Woods of Wisconsin, where he enjoyed boating and fishing. He also liked attending his grandchildren’s school activities.

In addition to his wife, Ruth, survivors also include a son, Bradly Jay Essington and his wife Laura of Quincy; one daughter, Melanie Jo Zehnle and her husband Greg of Fowler. One brother, Gregory D. Essington of Perryville, MO; one uncle, Kenneth Wigner and his wife Linda of Lubbock, TX.
Five grandchildren, Alison, Adrian and Amanda Zehnle, and Briana and Brady Essington; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and special friends Ray and Donna Johnson and his canine buddy, “Buster”.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church by the Rev. Martin Eden. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home, there will be no visitation at church before the services on Monday. Memorials are suggested to the Liberty Education Foundation or to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. www.dukerandhaugh.com
