Robert F. “Bob” Klusmeyer

Robert F. “Bob” Klusmeyer, age 91, of the Bickford Cottage, died on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 5:45 PM at Bickford. He was born on November 14, 1922 in Quincy the son of Fred “Chitto” & Mildred Klusmeyer. He married Lola Karhoff Haggerty on March 29, 1980. She survives.

Bob was a graduate of Quincy Senior High. In his youth he was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps and was active in many sports.

He served in the United States Army during WWII and was a participant in the Battle of Normandy. Before his military service, Bob worked at Dick’s Brewery. After his return from the war, he worked in many areas including being a police officer, insurance salesman, and pharmaceutical salesman. The last twenty years of his career he lived in Springfield, working for the State of IL in the Department of Mental Health and Department of Corrections. At his retirement in 1985, he and his wife Lola moved to Ft. Myers Beach, FL where they had a close group of friends and also traveled extensively. Throughout his life, Bob was very active in tennis and tennis programs. They returned to Quincy in 2007 and Bob enjoyed surfing the internet and continued his enjoyment of sports. Bob was also very active in the Elks Lodges wherever they lived and wherever they traveled. He was a member of Masonic Lodges and the Shriners. He was also a former member of the VFW. His greatest enjoyment was his family.

CHILDREN: Bobbi Burgoyne of Blythe, CA Terry Klusmeyer and his fiance Sally of Las Vegas; Linda Willing and her husband Dave; Pat Timmerwilke and her husband Mike; Tom Haggerty and his wife Tammy; Kathy Moore and her husband Kevin all of Quincy and Jim Haggerty and his wife Katherine of Ewing, MO.
GRANDCHILDREN: Frank Burton, Chris Yersky and her husband Steve; Victoria Klusmeyer; Timmer Willing and his fiance Katie; Todd Willing and his wife Liz; Misty Riutzel and her husband David; Tammy Carder; Kacie Carder; Michael Moore and his fiance Kendra; Amanda Smith and her husband Nick; Beth Krueger and her husband David, Nathan Haggerty and Jimmy Haggerty.
11 Great grandchildren
A SISTER-IN-LAW: Velma Klusmeyer, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Bob was preceded in death by 1 grandchild Lauren Haggerty and a brother Bill Klusmeyer.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to the Great River Honor Flight or to the Quincy Tennis Association.
