Robert F. Blickhan
Robert F. Blickhan, age 101 of Quincy, died on Thursday, March 16, 2023 in his home. He was born on September 23, 1921 in Indian Creek, MO the son of Matthew and Clara (Wolf) Blickhan. He attended St. Stephen’s Catholic High School. He served in the United States Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. He married Virginia Koetters on June 23, 1951. She survives. Mr. Blickhan worked in various capacities at Gardner Denver from 1952 until his retirement in 1984. He was also a lifelong farmer.
Bob was a long time member of St.Dominic Catholic Church and he is currently a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He was active in both the St.Dominic Holy Name Society and St. Francis Mens Society. He was well known for cooking at various activities around Quincy. He spearheaded numerous St. Dominic fundraising events and was very active in the K of C. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 583, where he served as a past Grand Knight and District Deputy. In addition, he volunteered as a driver for Meals on Wheels and was a milestone Red Cross Blood Donor. Bob also served as a Trustee for Ellington Township. He was a member of the Machinist Retirees of Local 822, the American Legion Post 823, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2061. Bob was a lifelong St Louis Cardinals baseball fan and supporter of Quincy Notre Dame.

CHILDREN: Roger Blickhan of Quincy, IL; Nancy Arata (Tom) of Eagan MN; Gary Blickhan (Wendy) of Quincy; Steve Blickhan of Pleasant Plains, IL; Karen Metzger (Brian) of Mahomet, IL: Linda Blickhan of Normal, IL; Janis Foreman of Quincy.
GRANDCHILDREN: Catherine Hamann (Bill) Arata, Melissa Wiseman (Geoff), Emily Rizo (Cesar), Elizabeth Klingele (Kory), Matthew Blickhan, Jennifer Bicklein (Michael), Todd Metzger (Nicholle), Scott Metzger, and Ashley Foreman.
STEP-GRANDCHILDREN: Tiffany Goodwin and Steven Goodwin (Tara).
SISTER: Martha Koetters
Numerous Great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.
Mr. Blickhan was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Joe, Tony, Delbert, Howard and Leo Blickhan, Mary Mock, Hilda Blickhan, Elsie Hildebrand and a baby in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with military honors by the Navy Funeral Honor Detail and the Payson, IL VFW Post 2061 Honor Detail. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. with a rosary to be held at the conclusion of the visitation at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Church, St. Dominic School or to Quincy Notre Dame. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
