Robert Eugene Runser, age 83, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of Taylor, MO, died on Sunday, December 4, 2011 in the Home. He was born on February 4, 1928 in Quincy, the son of Joseph & Elizabeth (Grote) Runser. He married Juanita Gallagher on August 21, 1954 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on October 5, 1979.

Robert was a lifelong farmer, retiring in the late 1980’s. He served in the military as a member of the Air Force. He was of the Catholic faith.

His interests included woodworking, fishing and he loved animals.

Robert is survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Ronald Runser and his wife Becky of Macomb, IL; Diane Piette of Quincy, Richard Runser and his wife Joyce of Lees Summit, MO; Randall Runser and his wife Missy of Quincy
TWELVE GRANDCHILDREN: Erin Runser, Ryan (Julie) Runser, Paul Runser, Christopher Piette, Matthew Piette, Rose Runser, Julia Runser, Ben (Sarah) Runser, Stacie (Tony) Anders, Zachary Biesterfeld, Gary Runser and Robert Runser
FIVE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Chase Piette, Audrey Runser, Blake Anders, Max Anders and Ryan Biesterfeld
ONE BROTHER: Louis Runser and wife Mary Ellen
ONE SISTER: Frances (Runser) Barry

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline (Runser) Vincent

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a mass at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Msgr. Michael Kuse. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 10:00. Memorials may be given to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
