Robert E. Wallace (Date of Death November 6, 2010)
Robert E. Wallace, age 82, died November 6, 2010 at Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home. Bob Wallace was a native of Hannibal, MO and a resident of Shreveport, LA for 39 years. He was a 1952 graduate of the University of Missouri where he played collegiate baseball and met his wife, Joan. He was a veteran of the Korean War, and honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1954 with the rank of First Lieutenant.
Bob was the consummate salesman, working for JC Penney in Waterloo, Iowa, International Harvester in Pontiac, IL and Diebold, Inc. in Shreveport, LA for more than 25 years. He was a voracious reader, loved crossword puzzles, sports, good food, especially from the grill and holidays with his children and grandchildren. He was a very active member of The Cathedral of St. John Berchmans, Shreveport, LA where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, volunteered in the RCIA, the Pastoral Council and was an usher for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan (Smith) Wallace; two daughters, Tricia Wallace and Mary Beth Wallace Green and husband Jonathan; two sons, David Wallace and wife, Laurie and Tom Wallace; four grandchildren, Drew and Matt Wallace and Ellie and Carolina Green.
Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, George and Emily Wallace; brothers, John Wallace and George (Butch) Wallace; and a son, Daniel Wallace.
Funeral services were held on November 13, 2010 at The Cathedral of St. John Berchmans, Shreveport, by Father Peter Mangum, Pastor of The Cathedral.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Calvary Cemetery, Quincy. Memorials may be made to LSU Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease Resource or The Cathedral of St. John Berchmans.
