Robert E. Gilker

Robert E. Gilker, age 72, of Quincy, died on Sunday, February 16, 2020 in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on December 7, 1947 in Quincy, IL the son of William and Virginia (Volbracht) Gilker. He married Nancy Haley on July 12, 1968. She survives.

Mr. Gilker was a journeyman for Huck’s Fixtures for over 25 years until it’s closing.

Robert loved golf, Blue Devil Basketball, Cardinal Baseball and watching his grandchildren’s sporting activities.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
HIS MOTHER: Virginia Gilker of Quincy
HIS CHILDREN: Robert ‘Brant’ Gilker, Brian Gilker and his wife Jennifer, and Brandon Gilker and his wife Jenessa.
GRANDCHILDREN: Alexis Wernowsky and her husband Vince; Kelsey Gilker, Logan Gilker, Carlee Gilker, Averie Gilker, Keedon Gilker and Kamdon Gilker.
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Colton Wernowsky, Kynslie Wernowsky, Adilynn Griffith and Kyler Griffith.
SIBLINGS: Richard Gilker, Barb Turner, William ‘Billy’ Gilker, Gary Gilker and John Gilker and his wife Trish.

Robert was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 9:30 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital or to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
