Robert E. “Bob” Holtschlag

Robert E. “Bob” Holtschlag, age 79, of 4010 Pine Tree Rd., Quincy, died on Monday, March 11, 2013 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on July 7, 1933 in Quincy, a son of Frank & Mary (Waterman) Holtschlag. He married Mary Jo Mast on August 11, 1956 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She survives.

Robert was a 1951 Quincy High School graduate. He was drafted into the U.S. Army at the age of 19 and served from 1953 – 1955. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Chaplaincy and St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Bob was a life-long farmer, retiring in 1995. Following his retirement he enjoyed helping people and had volunteered for various organizations.

In addition to his wife, Mary Jo, he is survived by children, Mark Holtschlag and his wife Karen of Quincy, Joe Holtschlag and his wife Penny of Liberty, IL, Susan Woytassek and her husband Dave of Detroit Lakes, MN, Tom Holtschlag and his wife Joan of Auburn, MI, and Tony Holtschlag and his wife Lisa of Aledo, IL; nineteen grandchildren: A.J., Jimmy, Chip, Eddy, Angela, Wes, Josh, Frank, Lucas, Kyle, Claire, Karen, Zach, Autumn, Caleb, Krysten, Anthony, Veronica and Robby. 3 great-grandchildren: Xavier, Evelyn and Schyler. One sister Clara “Pat” (Dick) Proctor of Minneapolis, MN and nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clarence, Walt, Fred & Mike Holtschlag and sister, Florence “Gal” Crouch.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home followed by a Funeral High Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment in St. Boniface Cemetery. The family requests that Masses may be given in his memory or that memorials may be made to St. Rose of Lima or St. Anthony Catholic Church. www.dukerandhaugh.com
