Robert E. “Bob” Hankins

Robert E. “Bob” Hankins, age 68, of 515 Locust St., Quincy, died on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 in his home. He was born on August 22, 1945 in Quincy, a son of William Perry & Mary W. (Fenton) Hankins. He married Dorothy Parrick on August 23, 1998 in Clat Adams Park, Quincy. She survives.

Bob served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany.

He worked at both Quincy Paper Box and Moorman Manufacturing for many years. He retired as supervisor from Titan Wheel.

Bob was an excellent cook and baker, he made many loaves of zucchini bread from the zucchini he grew in his own garden. He liked fishing and was an avid collector. Bob greatly enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by three children, Brian Hankins and his wife Michelle of Quincy, Bobette Homan and her husband Craig of Mendon, IL, and Brad Hankins of Quincy; six grandchildren, Ronette Leonard, Brooke Hankins, Grady Homan, Brock Hankins, Allie Hankins and Ashton Hankins; three great-grandchildren, Brendan Stanley, Bailey Stanley and Kadien Leonard; siblings, Charlotte Woosley, Penny (Bob) Musolino, and Doug (Pam) Hankins, all of Quincy, Diana (Greg) Ogle of Sterling, IL and Gary (Heather) Hankins of Quincy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Terrence Hankins who died in infancy, Charles “Chuck” Hankins & Bill Hankins.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Quincy Memorial Park with military honors by the American Legion Post #37 and the Illinois National Guard Military Funeral Detail. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to The Family. www.dukerandhaugh.com
