When he wasn’t working to keep his community safe, Bobby enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting with his grandkids, collecting baseball cards, and spending time with his dog Max, who was his beloved side kick.
Bobby was also an avid Cardinal’s baseball fan with a passion for playing men’s fast pitch softball. He was an outstanding softball pitcher for many years who, along with his team, Italian village of Carbondale, won the Illinois State championship in the early 90’s. He went on to coach junior high and high school softball, where he will always be remembered by all of his players as “Coach Powell”.
