Robert Bernard Weiman
Robert Bernard Weiman, “Uncle Bob”, age 87, of Quincy, died on Friday, July 28, 2017 in his home. He was born on January 21, 1930 in Quincy, the son of Bernard and Marie (Harmon)
Weiman. He went to St. John Grade School. He married Lucille Mary Schneider on June 18, 1955 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on June 17, 1983. Robert owned and operated KWS Body Shop, opening on September 26, 1959. After his retirement from the body shop, he opened “Uncle Bob’s” tavern at 12th & Spruce.
‘Uncle Bob’ was also involved in farming and was an avid bowler. He sponsored many baseball and bowling teams through the tavern for many years. After his retirement from the bar and his amputation, he enjoyed traveling about on his red scooter, waving and visiting with all of Quincy.
He is survived by:
TWO DAUGHTERS: Cathy Shanks and Betty Kelley and husband Rich
SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN: Luke Frericks, Sara Hankins and her husband Evan; Lucy Hankins and her husband Tyler; Katie Smith and her husband Jasper; Adam Kelley and his wife Jeni; Nick Kelley and his wife Jess; and Clint Kelley and his wife Laura.
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Ethan and Olivia Hankins; Quinton and Carter Hankins; Nick & Connor Kelley; Riley Kelley; Caleb and Walker Kelley, with an additional great-grandchild expected very soon.
SILBLINGS: Barb Deters and her husband Jack, Mary Dietrich and her husband Jim.
SISTER-IN-LAW: Norma Weiman
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his siblings: Wilma Ludwig Maxwell, Bernard “Bernie” Weiman, and William Weiman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to Unity Point Hospice or to the Illinois Veterans Home Memorial Garden.

Cathy and Betty, Your dad was like my second dad growing up in Northridge. Always remember him sharing his nightly popcorn with me. He never hesitated when you invited me along to your aunts and uncles homes. Will miss his smile and waves but he is happy with Lou again. God bless you all!

In a day and time, where so many people are wrapped up in their social media, it was always a great feeling to be waved at, by Uncle Bob. I will really miss that part of my day. Sorry for your loss.
We are so sad for your loss. He was a wonderful human being and will be sorely missed. We have lots of great memories and will remember all the fun times we had at “Uncle Bob’s”.
He loved sitting in his front porch watching the cars go by. RIP Bob
