Rita R. Russell

Rita Rosalie Russell, age 89, of Malabar, FL, formerly of Quincy, died on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 9:28 AM in her home. She was born on April 20, 1928 in Melrose Township, Adams County IL, a daughter of John Henry and Mary (Vogel) Bordewick. She married Samuel Lloyd Russell on March 2, 1957 in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Quincy. He preceded her in death on November 29, 1989.

Rita was a Homemaker. She was a great cook, but definitely enjoyed eating out. She enjoyed bird watching, going to Eagles and VFW to dance, loved camping back in the day and traveling.

Rita is survived by her TWO SONS, Steve Russell and his wife Marsha of Malabar, FL and Rick Russell of Schaumburg, IL. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jeremy (Tamara) of Chesapeake, VA; Luke (Keisha) of Jacksonville, FL; Amanda, Jayme, Joey, and Auston all of Malabar, FL area, and eight great grandchildren: Abygale, Mary, Peter John, Xandra, Ahna, Madyson, Amelia and Serenity, and nieces and nephews, and her friend of over 20 years, Henry Lohaus.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Roman and Sylvester Bordewick, and a sister Clara Thien.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a 10:00 a.m. Mass in St. Anthony Catholic Church by Msgr. Michael Kuse. Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church or the donor’s choice of charities.
