Rita Mae Walker

Rita Mae Walker, age 83, of 1404 Madison, died on January 29, 2017 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on May 24, 1933 in Quincy, IL the daughter of Paul & Clara (Lacke) Schonarth. Mrs. Walker retired from Dura Automotive in Hannibal after many years of service. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Rita enjoyed the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She greatly loved cooking for her family and hosting the weekly ‘Sunday Meal’. She liked to travel. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and taking care of her yard.

She is survived by:
SEVEN CHILDREN: Michael R. Walker (Deb) of Quincy; Linda Walker of Quincy; Nancy Oulton (Ron) of Colorado Springs, CO; Katherine Resendiz (Ed) of Quincy; Susie Cullen (Michael) of South Carolina; Kevin Walker of Columbus, IL: Elvin Walker (Linda) of Quincy.
GRANDCHILDREN: Gregory Oulton (Crystal); Evan Oulton (Kailie); Josh Resendiz (Kayla); Danielle Jacobs (Nick); Eddie Holzgrafe; Kristine (Brian) Mayfield;
Michelle Gibson ( Ervin) ; Stephen Cullen (Katie); Andrea Walker; Jeremy Walker (Amanda); Eric Walker (Cassie); and Melissa.
Numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a great-granddaughter: Isabelle, two brothers: Paul Schonarth and Donald Schonarth and a sister: Dorothy Klingele.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Rita was always such a wonderful and kind person. She was a great friend and neighbor to my sister and her husband.(Helen and Harry Smith). Our deepest sympathy to her family.
