Rita M. Eberle

Rita M. Eberle age 87, of Quincy died on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017 at 10:33 a.m. in St. Vincent’s Home. Rita was born March 6, 1930 in Quincy, a daughter of Bernard and Coletta (Hummert) Eberle.
Rita worked for over 30 years as a receptionist at Brower Manufacturing until the company closed. She later worked as a receptionist at Landscaping Brothers Nursery.
She was a longtime member of the former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was currently a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. Rita was a devout Catholic, she participated in both parishes in the choir, with funeral luncheons, and at Blessed Sacrament with putting together the weekly bulletin.
In 1998, she took a trip to Rome and the Vatican, and was able to shake hands with Pope John Paul, II. This past summer, Rita received the honor of being recognized as a Woman of Distinction by the Springfield in Illinois Diocesan Council of Catholic Women.
Her survivors include a brother-in-law, Charles Bross of Palmyra, MO; nephews Greg J. (Kristy) Bross, Dan M. Bross, three great-nephews, J.C. Bross and Christopher & Dalton Janes all of Palmyra; a great-great nephew, Declan Janes and a great-great niece, Juvia Janes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Patricia Bross and her brother, Donald Eberle.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Rev. Chris Comerford. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh. Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Parish, Quincy Notre Dame High School or to Blessing Foundation for HOSPICE.
