Rita Catherine Jochem
Rita Catherine Jochem age 92, of Lincolnshire, IL formerly of Quincy died on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in the Wealshire Life Care Community in Lincolnshire. Rita was born
January 20, 1921 in Quincy, IL a daughter of Walter and Colletta (Lennert) Kiefer.
She married Norbert L. ‘Nibs’ Jochem, on June 6, 1942 in Wauwatosa, WI and he preceded her in death on January 31, 2001.
Rita was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Quincy and worked for several years as a legal assistant until her marriage. She then focused her life raising their four children. Rita was a member of the Church of St. Peter. She was an avid bridge player and member of the Women’s City Club. She thoroughly enjoyed reading and playing the organ for many memorable family occasions.
Survivors include her children,
Carol Ryan of Troy, MI; Mary Jane (Michael) Golden of Chicago, IL and John (Bonnie) Jochem of Libertyville, IL;
a daughter-in-law, Jayne Jochem of Scarborough, ME.
Grandchildren, Tracy (Chad) Pratt and Kathleen (Mark) Chrz; Matthew Golden; Elizabeth (Kris) Thornburg and Mark Jochem; and Joshua and Hannah Jochem.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Daniel Jochem; a grandson, Steven Ryan, a son-in-law Michael Ryan, two sisters, Ruth Blines and Marsha Moore, one brother Edward Kiefer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. in the Church of St. Peter. Monsignor Leo Enlow will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
