Rita C. Niehaus

Rita C. Niehaus age 89, of Quincy, formerly of Springfield, IL, died on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 7:53 a.m. in Blessing Hospital. Rita was born December 5, 1925 in Quincy, a daughter of Robert Lee and Mary Katherine (Kemner) Barger. She married Clarence Niehaus on May 7, 1947 in Quincy’s St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, he preceded her in death on March 18, 1983. She married Philip J. Satorious on January 2, 1988 in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Quincy and he preceded her in death.

Rita was a business administrator for the Springfield Region Department of Children and Family Services. She retired in 1987 after 22 years of service.
She was a 1943 graduate of Notre Dame High School. She had been a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Rita enjoyed traveling abroad and at home, often taking trips to visit with her family. She loved to work, and continued working part-time after her retirement.

Survivors include her sons, David Niehaus of Milton, FL; Roger (Debi) Niehaus and Terry (Maryellen) Niehaus all of Quincy; daughters, Linda (Girard) Etzkorn of Crossville, TN and Carol (Harry) Moore of Quincy. 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and a brother, Virgil Barger.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 17, 2015 at 12 Noon at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, by Rev. Thomas Hagstrom. Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. There is no visitation, but family and friends are invited to the funeral mass. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association. Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in in charge of the arrangements.
