Rita Anne Freiburg

Rita Anne Freiburg, age 89, of 1507 Jackson, Quincy, died on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. in her home. She was born on July 27, 1925 in Independence, IA, the daughter of William & Anna (Sorenson) Toomey. She married Harold “Red” Freiburg on August 16, 1947. He preceded her in death on July 22, 2003.

Rita was a graduate of Scranton High School, Scranton, IA. She worked at Gardner Denver and at Quincy Senior High School.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was an early member of Cursillo, Birthright and Altar Society.

Rita was an avid reader. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery work. She loved attending her children & granchildren’s sporting events and activities. Rita was dedicated to loving her family, home and faith.

She is survived by:

In addition to her husband, Red, and her Parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Toomey.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 9:30 A.M. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Msgr. Michael Kuse. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Cursillio or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

    Barb and family,
    So sorry to hear about your mom/grandma. She was such a sweetheart and I enjoyed getting to know her a little bit while in therapy. I also admired her deep faith and how dedicated she was to her church and to her family. I’m sure she will be greatly missed.
