Ricky “Rick” E. St. Clair age 68, of Quincy, died from cancer with his loving wife by his side, on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 1:40 a.m. in his home. He was born May 25, 1947 in Quincy, a son of Eddie F. and Margie L. (Meyers) St. Clair. He married Ann Wehrli on January 30, 1996 in Quincy, and she survives.

Rick worked as a truck driver for Diamond Construction Co. for 17 years, he then worked for Matlack Trucking Co. driving a specialized tanker truck with hazardous materials. He retired in 2009 from the State of Illinois, I.D.O.T. as a Highway Maintainer. Rick was a 1965 graduate of Quincy High School. He served in the U.S. Army and completed two tours of duty during the Vietnam War from July 1966-February 1969. He was a life member of the V.F.W. and of South Side Boat Club. He was a member of the Rocky Point Club, Twin Oaks Club and Mississippi Valley Hunters and Fishermen.

Rick had an abundance of friends. Some of the neighbors called him “Mayor” because of his 44 years of living on North Bottom Road. He lost his home in the flood of 1993, but he and Ann soon built a new home on the same spot, living there until last year, when they moved up the hill. He liked to entertain his friends with refreshments in his man cave garage. Rick had quite a sense of humor and a truly amazing personality. On many days he could be seen grooming his large yard with his beloved John Deere lawn tractor, mowing grass or plowing snow on the blacktop drive. He called the Bay “God’s Country” where the deer and ducks could be seen.

Rick owned numerous motorcycles in his lifetime, the last being a Harley. He and Ann rode with friends that called themselves “The Over-the Hill Gang”. Rick will be missed, beyond measure by his wife, family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Ann, survivors also include his sisters, Rosie Terstriep and her husband Roger of Quincy; Charlene Wood and her husband Orville of Ursa. His aunt, Vera Allen of Quincy; a niece Stacey Akins and her husband Aaron of Mt. Sterling, IL and a nephew, Rick Terstriep and his wife Tina of Quincy and several dear cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and three aunts, Mary Gish, Lily Scroggin and Julia Griffin.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Chaplain James Riley. Interment will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family strongly requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Quincy Humane Society, Unity Point Hospice or to the Donor’s Choice.
