Richard “Wayne” Schoonover, age 84, of 715 South 23rd, Quincy, died on Thursday, October 29, 2015 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on November 15, 1930 in Quincy, the son of Clyde and Cora (Lang) Schoonover. He married D. “Jean” Hayes on November 17, 1948 in Urbana, IL. Wayne was greatly looking forward to his 67th wedding anniversary. Wayne & Jean had three children together, Kathy, Nancy & Lori.

Mr. Schoonover was an electrical machinist for Gardner Denver for many years. He was a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. Wayne was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ. Wayne enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, hunting and fishing. However, his greatest enjoyment was the time spent with his family.

TWO CHILDREN: Kathy McAllister of Clinton, IA; and Nancy (Donald) Grant of Quincy
EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN: Nicolas (Kristin) McAllister, Kristi (Tracie) Olsen, Timothy (Amanda) McAllister, Jennifer Grant, Jason Grant, David (Kristi) Davis, Jeremy (Kathleen Grover) Davis and Jessica Davis
10 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Averi, Colton, Daniel, David, Gabrielle, Gage, Hunter, Kaedyn, Kamri, and Tallon.
A SON IN LAW: Dave Metcalf
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Lori Metcalf, a great-grandson Ethan Olsen, 3 brothers: Clyde Schoonover, Jr., Bill Schoonover and Paul Schoonover.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 1:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home on Monday from 12:00 noon until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Association of Adams County or to Salem Church.
