Richard W. “Rich” Sinnock

Richard W. “Rich” Sinnock, age 72, son of Floyd Cook and Emma A. (Rottman) Sinnock, Sr., was born in Quincy, IL August 20, 1946 and passed away peacefully May 2, 2019 at his home.

Upon graduation from Quincy Senior High he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving in Ottawa, Canada as a member of the Embassy Security Guard and later was in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive stationed near Phu Bai. Upon returning to Quincy he worked at Moorman’s, the Roman Catholic Cemetery Association, Heck Office Equipment and retired in 2011 after many years with Huck Store Fixtures.

He married Sandra A. Smith on December 16, 1967 at St Joseph’s Church in Ottawa, Canada who survives.

Surviving also are his three sons Wayne (Jill) Sinnock of Highland, IL, Kevin (Sandra) Sinnock of Washington Courthouse, OH and Marc (April) Sinnock of Quincy, IL. He is survived by 9 Grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Kyle, Kristen, Kory, Chelsey, Carter, Chloe and Camryn and 4 Great-Grandchildren, Cole, Blake, Paitynn and Athena. He is also survived by his sisters Arlene Heck and Shirley Shepherd of Quincy, IL, along with his brother Ron (Sheri) of Cedartown, GA. Many nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Floyd Cook Sinnock, Jr. and his sisters Martha Jennings and Marilyn Gill.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in Sunset Cemetery of the Illinois Veterans Home with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to the Illinois Veterans Home Activities Fund.

    I met mr. Sinnock last year as we waited for our grand children after school at Ellington school. Through conversation we found out we knew some of the same ppl and interesting ideas of life. I’ll miss seeing him at the Gems games. God bless his family during this time and always.
