Richard J. Hilgenbrink, Jr.
Richard J. Hilgenbrink Jr, born on Good Friday April 19, 1946, passed away June 19, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, Linda Geise Hilgenbrink, and children (spouses) daughter Tracy Hilgenbrink (Stacey Klein), sons David (Kristine), Andrew (Cheryl) Hilgenbrink, seven cherished grandchildren, Sydney, Cade, Paige, Delaney, Dean, Camden, and Tyler.
Richard is also survived by his three loving sisters, Joyce Tourney, Judy Liesen, and Jane Schwartz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sr. and Florence Hilgenbrink, his brother Donald, and grandson Gabriel.
Richard was a graduate of Quincy CBC High School 1964 and Quincy University 1968. He worked at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis as an Information Systems Specialist. He served in the US Army 1969-1971.
Richard and Linda loved to travel and spend time together building puzzles. He was an avid researcher of genealogy. He enjoyed being connected to family, past and present, and always welcomed family and friends with homemade treats. He loved taking care of others and did so often with a quiet and gracious heart. Rich will be remembered as a kind, polite, loving person, and fantastic husband, dad, and grandfather.
Visitation at 9:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Maryland Heights, MO with Mass at 10:00 am on Saturday June 23, 2018.
Visitation at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy, Il at 10:30 am with prayers at 11:15, on Monday June 25, 2018.
Burial in Greenmount Cemetery with military honors.
Didn’t really know Richard, but remember his parents and his sisters. Joyce was in school with my sister Nancy. So sorry for your loss.
I always thought of Rich as the “gentle giant”. He was a gentleman and good example of what the good Lord wanted us to be like. May he rest in peace!

Wanted to extend our sincere sympathy so sorry we weren’t able to attend Rich’s service . I recently broke my ankle & haven’t been out of the house .
