Richard H. Frankenhoff, age 85, of rural Quincy, died Wednesday, January 27, 2021. He was born December 14, 1935 in Quincy to Aloysius E. and Agnes R. Wilde Frankenhoff. On February 12, 1966 he married Peggy S. Thompson. She survives.

He attended St. John Grade School, Notre Dame high school, and the University of Illinois-Champaign.

He served six years in the US Army Reserve.

Richard was employed as a tool designer at Gardner-Denver for 35 years. Earlier he also did tool design work for McDonnell Aircraft – St. Louis, Missouri and for Douglas Aircraft – Long Beach, California.

For leisure he enjoyed woodworking, genealogy, gardening, birding, model railroading, stock trading and investing, and spending time with family and friends.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving in addition to his wife Peggy are their children: Amy J. Greving (husband Darren) of Western Springs; Nathan R. Frankenhoff (wife Nancy) of Quincy; and Sarah A. Peaslee (husband Jason) of Kettering, Ohio; grandchildren Mason and Hannah Greving; Riley, Erica and Morgan Frankenhoff; and Amber and Austin Peaslee; siblings Evelyn Mais of Bay Minette, Alabama; Roger Frankenhoff (Marydine) of Quincy; and Roselyn Crabbe (Dennis) of Quincy. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers in infancy: Jerome and Gerald; a sister Marilyn and her husband Ralph Willer; a brother-in-law Ernest Mais; nephew, Gregory Mais; and niece Susan Cunningham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh. In lieu of flowers please make a memorial donation to St. Francis School or any local food pantry.
