Richard F. “Dick” Hoebing

Richard F. “Dick” Hoebing, age 83, of 2424 Spruce St., Quincy, died on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 11:06 a.m. in his home. He was born on November 14, 1930 in Quincy, a son of Alphonse & Mary (Murphy) Hoebing. He married Anna M. Genenbacher on September 18, 1954 in St. Francis Catholic Church. She survives.

Dick was a 1949 graduate of Notre Dame High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was a combat veteran of the Korean War.

He was a sheetmetal worker with Local #91 and also was the owner and operator of the North END Liquor Mart for 23 years. Dick retired in 1977.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Q.U. Waterbugs. Dick was an avid Cardinals fan. He loved his grandchildren, great grandchildren and the many family dogs that they’ve had over the years. Dick was the greatest Dad, and he will be missed.

In addition to his wife, Anna, he is survived by his children, Debbie Tebrich and her husband Michael of Long Beach, CA, Sue Sparks, Nancy Bowen and her husband Chuck, Rick Hoebing, Jeff Hoebing and his fiancee Lori and Chris Vaughn and her husband Greg, all of Quincy; thirteen grandchildren, Tiffani Tebrich, Ryan Sparks, Megan Sparks, Jessica Winget, Brad Bowen, Joe Hoebing, Tara Hoebing Gunnery Sgt. Sean Hoebing, Amethyst Zelle, Mitchell Vaughn, Andrew Vaughn, and Jennifer Vaughn; five great grandchildren; and a brother, Donald “Red” (Ruth) Hoebing of Quincy. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Pete & Bob Hoebing, grandson, Tyler Tebrich, and a daughter-in-law Michele Hoebing.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church by Rev. James Wheeler, O.F.M. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.     Ann, It’s been a long time since we have seen you and Dick. Actually, I think it was your last day of having North End. We sure have a lot of memories of that place and all of our wonderful friends from there. You and your family are in our thoughts.
